Calling all entrepreneurs, grow your business at The Beacon!

A free 12-month lease at Eastbourne’s shopping centre is up for grabs

Shopping Centre bosses at The Beacon are providing small business owners, entrepreneurs, and anyone who has ever wanted to have a presence in a busy shopping destination, the chance to win space at the mall – completely free.

Over the last two-and-a-half years, The Beacon has undergone a huge £85 million refurbishment project to provide a more stylish and modern shopping environment for the local community. The renovation was completed in July 2019 and created 33 new shopping spaces, mixed between retail, food and leisure.

Positioned in a prime location in the town’s centre; the mall provides the perfect location for local, independent businesses or just those with a great idea to rub shoulders with some of the biggest names in retail and leisure; including Next, Boots, Greggs, H&M, JD Sports, M&S, McDonalds, Nando’s and Cineworld.

“We’re looking for innovative and interesting concepts from local entrepreneurial individuals or organisations that want to take their businesses to the next level or even just get a great idea they have off the ground,” said William Plumridge, centre manager at The Beacon.

“We know just how important independent shops, restaurants and leisure operators are to the local area. As a key part of the Eastbourne community, as well as with the support from Legal & General (L&G), we have got an opportunity to support them with this great Grow at The Beacon initiative.

“Grow at The Beacon doesn’t have any restrictions. We’re open to a range of concepts and suggestions that people feel will add something different to the shopping centre and to the town. I’m looking forward to seeing the ideas.”

To be in with a chance of winning retail space in the centre for free, applicants can visit The Beacon’s website at Entrants will be able to provide a description of their business, what sets them apart and why they think they’ll be a great fit for The Beacon.

Shortlisted entrants will then be asked to come and pitch their business to a panel from Legal & General – the owner of the shopping centre – as well as centre management staff from The Beacon. The successful applicants will be announced shortly after.
