Shoppers will be able to get on a bike at The Beacon and take part in the Centre’s 100 Mile Challenge for National Heart Month on Saturday February 15.
Healthy heart ambassadors will be out and about in the Centre encouraging as many people as possible to take part in the event, supported by the British Heart Foundation, to raise awareness of heart health.
Anyone who takes up the challenge on one of the static bikes, provided by Anytime Fitness, could win a free water bottle if they cycle a certain distance.
On the same day any shopper who spends over £35 will be in with a chance of winning a free health themed gift.
During February, healthy heart tips giving advice on how to get your heart in tip-top condition, will be promoted by local groups in the Centre’s community space The Hut.
There will also be a large glitter heart near River Island and Pandora where shoppers stand a chance of winning a £50 gift card by taking a photo and sharing it on The Beacon’s social media channels using the hashtag #lovingmyheart
Bill Plumridge, manager of The Beacon, said: “National Heart Month is a great initiative for raising awareness of heart conditions and problems. We hope that the activities in the Centre during February help make people realise there are lots of things we can do to help make our own hearts healthier.”
