With blockbuster movies and pop-culture dominating the world stage, enthusiasm for comic book characters is at an all-time high.
Eastbourne favourite Scorch Comics has grown rapidly over the last four years, going from strength to strength, and has now joined The Beacon to bring you all the heroes, villains, and adventures you could ask for!
Scorch Comics opened in style on Saturday, featuring signings from world-renowned comic book artist Boo Cook (Judge Dredd, Doctor Who) and bestselling author James Lovegrove (Firefly, The Cthulhu Casebooks), as well as opening day deals, art competitions and free comics for anyone dressed up as their favourite characters.
The new store will feature new release comics, books, graphic novels, manga, art prints, art books, original pages of comic art, merchandise, apparel and even more as the new year comes around. Beginning in 2020 Scorch will also have some of the biggest publisher and studio partnered comic events this side of London.
If you loved coming down to Grove Road for a chat and a comic, then don’t worry, It’s not goodbye. As the new year begins the store will be refitted with a comics library and gaming cafe. The Grove Road store will also feature quizzes, in-store film and tv screenings, workshops, gaming nights and will be available for private hire.
Owner Jonathan Simmons said: “We have fast become Eastbourne’s premiere comic and pop culture destination store. 2020 brings a new year, a new decade and a new way of selling comics. We are bucking tradition to revolutionise the comic industry, and to bring this medium to a whole new audience. We are tremendously excited to have a presence in the fabulous new Beacon shopping centre and we can’t wait to see you all there!”
