Kind-hearted shoppers in The Beacon have raised £2,327 for the Children with Cancer Fund by donating their spare coins to the Centre’s wishing well over Christmas.
The wishing well was part of the festive display in the Centre and every year a charity is chosen to benefit from the generosity of shoppers.
Children with Cancer Fund, based in Polegate, was formed in 1998 and is run by a small group of friendly staff and volunteers. The aim of the charity is to grant wishes to children up to the age of 18, and their families, who have, or have had, cancer and who primarily live in East Sussex, Brighton and Hove.
Chris Downton, from Children with Cancer, said: “This year, every penny raised will be spent on giving caravan holidays for families, so we are very grateful to everyone who donated their spare coins at Christmas.”
Bill Plumridge, Manager of The Beacon, said: “As always, our customers have been very generous in what they have given, and their kindness is very much appreciated. Children with Cancer Fund is a fantastic local charity and does an incredible job for local families.”
