Fashion models hit the cat-walk and shopping malls for a special free one-day event, Sun, Sea and Style, at The Beacon on Saturday. Shoppers were given a taste of what’s going to be big this summer as they watched four fashion shows that were held in the Centre. Crowds gathered to watch flash mobs of professional models and dancers strutt their stuff in the newly extended, rebranded Centre. As well as the chance to see all the latest styles for men, women and children there were lots of fun ideas for all the latest looks. Stand-alone beauty counters in the Centre meant customers could try out the latest headline products and there were fantastic discounts for one day only! Centre Manager Bill Plumridge said: “We had a great response to this free event that gave everyone a chance to see what’s on offer in our stores this summer. We’ve had some great feedback and our customers really enjoyed the chance to relax and enjoy a memorable day.” Shoppers took the opportunity to catch up with all the new names that have opened so far in the extended Centre - H & M, Next, FatFace, Paperchase, New Look, Flying Tiger, Jack Wills, Schuh, Nando’s, JoJo Maman Bébé and Lovisa. Cineworld is due to open in the summer and further signings are expected to be announced soon. The 170,000 sq ft extension to The Beacon is being funded by owners Legal & General.
