Thousands of shoppers enjoyed A Grand Day Out at The Beacon with free, fun packed entertainment on Saturday.
Confetti cannons exploded to mark the start of the event where more than 400 prizes were given away, including £100 gift cards and goodies from Pandora, JoJo Maman Bébé and JD Sports, as people took part in our very own beach hut bonanza.
Over 3,000 flags and jelly beans were handed out with one-day only 15% discount vouchers for Jack Wills and Fat Face.
Goody bags were filled to the brim with prizes from Cineworld, H & M, Animal, Boots, Specsavers, The Perfume Shop and our new addition Baseus.
Many staff joined in the fun by dressing up or adding a beach theme to their windows, including the team at New Look who brought some summer fun to the day as they played games in their window.
Crowds were entertained by live music from fantastic 1940s singing group The Polka Dots and the amazing UK Gospel Choir while roaming performers, in an array of beach themed costumes, kept customers entertained throughout the day.
There was even a history wall celebrating 30 years of Eastbourne’s favourite shopping centre plus giant The Beacon letters that were coloured in to mark the occasion.
Bill Plumridge, Manager of The Beacon, said: “It was a great day from start to finish! We’ve had some superb feedback from customers who enjoyed everything from the beach hut bonanza to our giant colouring in letters. I would like to thank everyone for coming along, and for bearing with us as our Centre was transformed with a brand new £85 million extension. I hope everyone agrees that it has been worth the wait!”
